Korean car maker, Hyundai, got many people attention with the new hyundai i20. Hyundai said that the i20 would be launched in India next month to compete with the Suzuki Swift and its main competitor, the Skoda Fabia. The search for i20 in googles search list was buzzing up day by day after the revealing of the interior and exterior pictures.

In Europe, where the demand for small cars with great fuel efficiency is increasing, the i20 would be launched there early next year to conquer the segment with a hell of feature and engines. In Europe, the i20 would replace the Hyundai, but in India, both the Getz and i20 would be sold side by side, where the Hyundai i20 would be the bigger, more costlier one.

The Indian version of the i20 will be launched with a 1.4L DOHC 16-valve engine which would produce an impressive 100bhp @ 5500rpm and a decent torque of 137Nm @ 4200rpm. Considering the i10 being equipped with an automatic transmission, we can expect one from the i20 also.

The hyundai i20 is designed well and we can see how far Hyundai’s car designs have improved. The new Hyundai Genesis coupe is also another example of impressive car design. The hyundai i20 has the i10 like front grille and a sporty swiped back headlights, which is then followed by a well designed side with an impressive curve that builds a character to the car. Following the same theme from the front, the rear is equipped by a swiped-front tail-light and a rear wiper.

Sitting on a huge wheelbase of 2525mm, the i20 promises generous space for you legs. The interior design is simple, yet elegant. It will be equipped by automatic climate control and a drivers arm rest. The new steering wheel design will be equipped with audio contols for better convenience. An integrated audio system that matches with the center console, will also be in the list.

The i20 will come with 6 airbags in the Europe version, but we can expect 2 airbags for the Indian version. Active head rests, front seat pretensioners, ABS, EBD and an advanced tyre pressure monitoring system.

The Hyundai i20 will be built at Hyundai’s facility at Sriperambudur. Pricing is not confirmed yet, but we can expect between 4.5-6 Lakh, but i can assure it would not come below 4.5.
