Toyota Fortuner To Launch In June 2009
After a lot of rumors and fake launch dates, Toyota finally prepares the Toyota Fortuner for India, which will be launched in India in June 2009. Toyota is not as constant in making launch dates as Honda, which means the launch can also be a little delayed. The face-lifted Toyota Fortuner was launched in Thailand recently.
The facelift includes a new grille and change in headlights and taillights. Toyota will assemble its Fortuner at the Bidadi plant from CKD (Completely knocked down) kits. Toyota after the launch of the Fortuner in India plans to sell 5,000 units a year in India with a price tag of 18 Lakhs.
Under the hood of the Toyota Fortuner lies a 3.0L Diesel engine that produces 163bhp and torque of 343Nm to move the 1.9 Tonne heavy body. The transmission will include a 5-speed transmission as well as a 4-speed automatic with 4WD as an option.
The interiors includes the dual tone colours that looks really great. The interior features include a optitron meter, climate control, 3 row air conditioning vents and steering wheel embedded audio controls. The interiors features 3 rows and ample space for passengers as well as goods.
The Fortuner’s safety features consist of the strong GOA (Global Outstanding Assessment) structure, ABS, SRS Airbags, LED stop lamps, 15″ front Disc Brakes and rear window vipers.
Looking at the features, engine and the styling, the Fortuner looks like a good alternative to the Ford Endeavor and can also fight the CRV and the Chevrolet Captiva. And at a price of 16-18 Lakhs, the Toyota Fortuner looks like a good package.

I am also waiting for ‘Toyota Fortuner’ “The Ultimate SUV”
TOYOTA please launch this SUV within this year 2009.

Kudos to XYLO for forcing the launch of FORTUNER which was eagerly awaited by many in India for the past 5 years.It will be good for Toyota if FORTUNER is priced around 13-14 lakhs. At 20 lakhs it will cater to a niche market competing with Honda CRV, FORD Endeavour, Chevrolet Captiva ,Mitsubishi Pajero & outlander while XYLO will walk away with the majority of the market.

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW ABOUT THE 4WD SYSTEM IN FORTUNER PLEASE EXPLAIN ME IF THE 4 WD IS ENGAGED AT ALL TIMES OR WE HAVE THE OPTION TO SWITCH TO 4WD.

Like all of you, i was desperately waiting for this vehicle and finally i get to see it yesterday at Toyota yard, honestly the vehicle is a big time disappointment, first the price they are asking is just double 20 lakhs whereas the international cost of this vehicle is around 12 lakhs, 2ndly its a all time 4 wheel driver which is a waste for Indian road as this will reduce the mileage, once you are inside the vehicle there is no luxury inside, you will feel that you are sitting in a INNOVA – its completely same. i think we all wasted our time waiting for this vehicle..

Yes True about the Pricing, it could be priced less but with our duty structure & competitors pricing, I feel the Fortuner is a Good Buy. Too bad Chevrolet will Completely loose out on their market share of the Captiva who’s price they Just Increased to a RIDICULOUS 24 lacs & 26 for an Automatic..IF Toyota can Maintain UNDER 24 for the AUTOMATIC version, I think They have a Winner on their Hands.. After all the SUV Market in India is Quite Sad, Considering the Prado at 40 Lacs..& under that the NON-MACHO CAPTIVA !.. & Besides..Whoever said something about the XYLO.. it is NO COMPARISON to the the Fortuner & is in a Different Category All together ..
if u want a one up abouve the XYLO, You Might want to Consider the Tata Safari Dicor..which could Give you Value for money in the Category you looking for..

this is a new luxury car of toyota.aii the futures of new design,interoire and fresh look. this is the more power then captiva&honda crv.it have new transmission and multi suspension.the peporance of this car is good .
