Hyundai i20 Launched in India! Features, Price and Specifications

Its here and completely geared! Hyundai Motor India, the second largest car manufacturer today had launched one of the most awaited cars of 2008, the Hyundai i20 in India. The Hyundai i20 was first unveiled at the Paris Motor Show and by its beauty in designs and features made the people crazy about the car! The i20 comes with a tag that says “i got it all”.

The Hyundai i20 is a 5 door hatch, in the premium hatch segment and will take on the successful German competitor, the Skoda Fabia. The Hyundai i20 is the elder brother of the much successful i10. The i20 offers large interiors, which is bigger than the Getz also and amazingly styled exteriors along with loads of features held at a brilliant price bracket.

The Hyundai i20 comes with a 1.2L DOHC Kappa petrol engine that produces 80bhp @ 5200rpm and torque of 110Nm @ 4000 rpm. Not bad on the power, but disappointing on capacity. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, but there is no automatic version currently. And automatic transmission and diesel variant may be considered later. On the emissions, the hyundai i20 is Euro V ready!

The i20 comes with tilt & telescopic steering, 60:40 split folding rear seats, dual tone beige interiors, 2 DIN CD + MP3 Music System, front & rear power windows, refrigerated glove box, a multi information display (which includes trip distance, engine running time, calendar, clock, temperature and audio display) and tachometer, as standard equipment.

The top line version will include fully automatic A/C, leather wrapped steering wheel and TGS knob, steering mounted audio control (a first for this segment), foldable key with keyless entry function, alloy wheels, height-adjustable driver seat, electrically foldable and adjustable outside mirrors.

The best part of the car is the safety, which includes ABS with EBD and a massive inclusion of the first car having 6 airbags. The i20 comes in 3 variants – Magna, Asta & Asta (O) and seven colours – Crystal White, Black Diamond, Sleek Silver, Silky Beige, Sparkle Blue, Berry Red, Dark Gray Metalic.
